About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th

Hello everyone,

M y name is Philipp Weber and I am 20 years old. I am from Regensburg, Germany and I study European Business Studies at the OTH Regensburg. Since my studies require two internships which have to be abroad, I decided to do one of them in the United States.   I’ve always wanted to go to the United States. I wanted to experience the way of living in the land of limitless opportunities. As I have been to the UK for 6 months, I have already experienced what it means to travel to a new country where nearly everything is different. And by the way this feeling of experiencing new things and meeting new people is addictive!   Like Christoph I have to work in Germany, due to the current situation. I’ve already planned so much about what to do when I am finally in the US, but unfortunately things turned out differently. Canada and LA where on my list for example. Even if I’d rather be in the US, I appreciate the positive things about this situation.   I am looking forward to when I an

Hello it’s me – “the new one”

Hi to all of you, My name is Christoph and I am a 22-year-old student living in Germany where I am pursuing a bachelor's degree in International Business at the University of Applied Science Georg Simon Ohm in Nuremberg. First of all, I have to agree that it was tough for me to create this article. I looked at articles of former interns and realized that many of them wrote about the first days in the US and how it was like, to be a stranger in a strange land. For me, this is quite different. Even if I currently have had my first days at AutoCom, I am not physically in the US.   I am working in Germany. No first drive to work. No first typically American dish. No cultural clashes. And most sadly, no possibility of seeing my colleagues and roommates. Instead it is working from home (mostly while sitting in the garden), eating the same food, and already knowing the way to work (shouldn’t be that hard at least). Even though I cannot be in the US right now, I h

New intern at AutoCom

Hi everyone, My name is Ramona Sommerstorfer. I am 26 years old and from Bavaria, Germany. Since my bachelor’s program at the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg requires an internship, my wish was to do it abroad, which is why I am here now. I have never been to the US before and I am looking forward to seeing what life and work is like. Rebecca, one of AutoCom’s other interns, picked me up from the airport last Wednesday so I could meet my new housemates immediately. I am staying in Royal Oak, but in a different house than the other AutoCom interns. They are currently taking me to work as I am still in the middle of organizing a lot of formalities like car insurance or bank account. During my 6-month stay, I am excited to explore Detroit and other parts of the US. I would like to visit as much as I can, cities like New York, Nashville, Toronto and the west coast including California, of course. At the same time, I want to gain a lot of professional and pe
